Labiaplasty is a plastic surgery procedure of the female labia. A patient has a labiaplasty to improve the appearance of the labia or to correct discomfort due to excess tissue at the labia during sexual intercourse. Labiaplasty techniques are more refined than ever before. Current labiaplasty techniques aim to hide incisions, while not disrupting sensation to the labia. In patients with excess labia skin, a doctor removes the excess skin to improve the shape and contour of the labia. Other labiaplasty techniques shift labia tissue around with various incisions to improve the overall shape of the labia. A labiaplasty is a procedure that lasts less than an hour and is growing in popularity because of its successful results.
